Get advice from someone that has done it before 

Find someone who has hired the co-packer, expanded a food business, launched a new product line, or done what you are looking to do.  They can save you time, money and help you increase your chances of successful food business consultant 

Get a labor attorney 

When you have employees complications can arise and it’s important and helpful to get expert advice when things don’t go well. Find a Labor Lawyer

Use your local free or low cost resources

There are many organizations designed to help food business owners. Here in the San Francisco Bay Area, we have:

  • The Small Business Development Corporation (SBDC) which is funded by the US Government and located on the Dominican University of California Campus.  Here business owners can get free consulting on a variety of topics from experts who have experience.  They also offer many workshops on topics like writing a business plan, keeping your books, hiring your first employee, etc.  There are SBDC’s in all 50 states, so look for one in your area.
